One of the most important but least discussed IEP requirements are a student’s annual goals which identify what a student is expected to learn within a year. Annual goals should be measurable and consistent with a student’s needs and abilities. The clinic is designed to be collaborative where we’ll discuss what your right to a free appropriate public education (FAPE) means, how is progressed measured, what are SMART goals and why they are important to your child’s progress. Finally, we’ll look at your child’s goals and see whether they meet this critical criteria. The clinic continues in follow up sessions where we draft letters that raise your concerns with the goals and hold a practice sessions that prepare you for the IEP meeting.

What to bring: IEPs issued within past two years. For most parents this is the current IEP and the IEP of the year before.
