Servicios Basados en la Comunidad y en el Hogar se refieren frequentemente como servicios de "Waiver". Estos se proveen con fondos de Medicaid y consisten en coordinación de servicios, pueden también incluir vivienda, habilitación residencial y diurna, modificaciones ambiental y adaptaciones de equipo auxiliar. Los servicios de "Waiver" son individualizados segun los resultados valorados que estén por escrito en el plan de servicios individualizados de la persona.
