Respite services are provided in-home or in a respite apartment, offering care for children or adults with developmental disabilities when their families are temporarily unable to care for them or when family caretakers simply need a break.
Day, overnight and weekend respite services are available for families residing in Manhattan and the Bronx with children or adults with developmental disabilities.
Individuals will be cared for at a freestanding site to allow families some rest time, to take care of personal issues, or in an emergency.

Caminos offers Pathway to Employment services to develop customized employment with support,
DAY SERVICES
Day Habilitation and the supplemental Up Living Program engages individuals with developmental disabilities in a comprehensive day program that develops their educational, social, recreational and vocational skills.
AUTISM INITIATIVE
The Autism Initiative Project is funded by a grant from the New York City Council under its Autism Initiative. This project supplements the work of Sinergia’s Metropolitan Parent Center by bringing increased awareness to New York City residents, particularly to the communities with large Spanish speaking populations, about the growing population of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
LAWS & REGULATIONS
Federal Law
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is the federal law that secures special education services for children with disabilities from the time they are born until they graduate from high school or reach the age of 21, whichever a student reaches first. Ld Online provides a copy of IDEA which is formatted in a way that makes the law more accessible. The document can be found at:
