Designing At-Home Learning Environments for Children with Autism / Diseñando Entornos de Aprendizaje en el Hogar para Niños con Autismo

 
Many parents are faced with unique challenges while supporting their school-age child during remote instruction in the home. Learners with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who have difficulty with transitions, may especially benefit from additional supports in the at-home learning environment. This webinar will focus on strategies that parents can use to create a learning environment that supports their child’s sensory and transition needs throughout the school day. We will identify considerations for students (ages 4-14) with ASD during this transition period, practical tips for the at-home learning environment, and ways to collaborate with schools during these uncertain times. 
 
Objectives: 
·         Gain a better understanding of remote learning considerations for children with ASD 
·         Identify one strategy to support child with transitions during remote instruction 
·         Identify one strategy to support child with sensory needs during remote instruction 
 
Muchos padres enfrentan desafíos únicos apoyando a sus hijos durante el aprendizaje remoto dentro del hogar. Estudiantes con el trastorno del espectro autista (TEA), quienes tienen dificultades con transiciones, pueden beneficiarse de apoyos adicionales en el hogar. Este seminario web se enfocará en presentar estrategias, que padres podrán utilizar en crear un entorno de aprendizaje, que apoyará las necesidades de transición y sensoriales del niño. Identificaremos las consideraciones a tener en cuenta para estudiantes de los 4 a los 14 años con TEA, enfocándonos en las transiciones y proveeremos consejos prácticos para el entorno de aprendizaje en el hogar y maneras en que los padres puedan colaborar con las escuelas durante estos tiempos inciertos. 
 
Objetivos: 
·         Adquirir un mejor entendimiento de acomodaciones en el hogar para el aprendizaje remoto para niños con TEA 
·         Identificar una estrategia para apoyar a niños con las transiciones durante instrucción remoto 
·         Identificar una estrategia para apoyar niños con necesidades sensoriales durante instrucción remoto
