Sinergia: We Are Here for You! 

As parents of children with an intellectual / developmental disability, we could feel overwhelmed by the challenging process leading to accessing services. Furthermore, we might not know where to start.  Family Support Programs have been created with the sole purpose of assisting the family during this journey. This presentation will provide an overview of the services of the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the eligibility process, and the supporting role of the case managers.  Additionally, we will present other services Sinergia provides that do not requireOPWDD-eligibility, for example,  special education advocacy, parent trainings & workshops, support groups, and recreational programs for children and young adults on the autism spectrum.    

 

Sinergia:¡Estamos Aquí para Ti! 

Como padres de hijos con discapacidades de desarollo o intelectuales, nos encontramos agobiados o abrumados por el proceso para obtener servicios adicionales.Es más, tal vez no sabemos por donde empezar. Programas para Apoyo Familiar han sido creados con el unico propósito de asistir a familias a aprender sobre servicios adicionales. Esta presentación brindará un resumen de los servicios de la Oficina para Personas con Discapacidades de Desarollo (OPWDD), el proceso para la elegiblidad, y el rol de los coordinadores de servicios. Además, presentaremos sobre otros servicios que Sinergiia tiene que no requiere la elegibilidad de OPWDD, por ejemplo, abogacía educativa, talleres y entrenamientos para padres, grupos de apoyo y programas de recreo para jóvenes y adultos con autismo entre otros.

Format:  

Zoom group presentation. Participants will have a chance to share comments and questions with your peers via chat and with the presenters via a Q&A feature.  At the end of the webinar, presenters will have a Q&A session.
